Chavutti Massage - Body massage by bare foot
From Kerala - South India
Chavutti Massage, is an ancient Keralite healing method called in Malalayam Chavutti Thirumal : "Chavutti" means foot or leg, and "Thirumal" means massage) . Rooted in Ayurveda and Yoga, Chavutti Massage was initially used on Yogis, Kathakali dancers (traditional Kerala theater), and Kalaripayatu practitioners (Kerala Martial art). Until now, this art remained secret - passed down only within physicians families from father to son.
The full body massage lasts at least one and a half hours. The Chavutti Thirumal practitioner, holding onto a rope for balance, uses his feet to massage the whole body with medicated oils, choosen according to the ayurvedic constitution of the recipient. The masseur's body moves in a rhythmic manner like dance, and he adjusts his weight with precision to relax the muscles and to work on energy spots (marmas) and lines (nadis).

Chavutti Thirumal Massage
A completly different way to be touched
When massaging with the feet, a vertical prana circuit is developed from the 7th chakra to an energy center on the instep of the foot, thus connecting heaven, man and earth. It is a very effective way to ground the healing energy in the energetic and physical body, to really balance the 5 main vayus (prana), and to awake the body to all its dimensions. Moreover the subtle alliance of power and smoothness given by feet enables the masseur to reach all parts of the body, even deep structures, according to body's needs.
Because the massage stimulates the 108 marmas and the main nadis, Chavutti Thirumal releases body memories and power, and balances the flow of prana. For yogis it works effectively to re-align physical structure, helps to make the body ready for bending, turning and twisting, and removes join and muscular pain. It tones organs, detoxifies body tissues, strengthens bones, reduces excess fat, nourishes brain and nerves.
Chavutti Massage is an amazing and powerful
way to develop body and mind connection.
